Water Meter Battery Replacement

General Information

  • If your water meter has a blank screen like the one shown below and is no longer communicating with your gateway, you may need to replace the battery in the sensor:

 

We have two types of batteries for different versions of our Water Meters. Read below to determine which type you will need.

 

Type A Battery:

If your water meter's serial number falls between 2204XXXX and 2212XXXX you will need a type A (white cased battery)

 

 

 

 

 

Type B Battery:

If you have a water meter with serial number 2304XXXX and higher you will need a type B cylindrical Battery. 

 

 

 

 

 

  • If your Water Meter's Serial Number is in-between 2301xxxx - 2303xxxx, please open your meter following the steps below to determine which battery type you have.
  • If your Water Meter doesn't fall within any of the ranges above, please contact our Customer Support Team to learn more. You will need to take a photo of the meter that matches the photo at the top of the screen; showing both the display and serial number of the meter.

  • It will take 1-2 hours for Water Consumption to start showing up in the app.
  • Depending on how long the water meter was down, it could take 3-4 days for the graph in the app to populate.

Type A Replacement Steps

Step 1: Start by removing the 2 red and clear tabs on the side of the WM. These are not intended to be removed and the wire/cord will need to be cut in order to proceed to next step.

 

Step 2: Remove the 4 clear plugs. After doing so, there will be 4 small Phillips head screws that will need to be removed. 

 


 

Type B Replacement Steps

Step 1: Start by removing the 2 red and clear tabs on the side of the WM. These are not intended to be removed and the wire/cord will need to be cut in order to proceed to next step.

 

 

Step 2: Remove the 4 clear plugs. After doing so, there will be 4 small Phillips head screws that will need to be removed.

Step 3: Open up the WM and remove the battery at the black quick connect plug. 

 

Step 4: Use adhesive strip and apply on side of the battery going face down inside the water meter. Insert new WM battery, attach the black connector, and reassemble WM. Red and Clear tabs are not needed for resealing the sensor. 

Water meter should again show a value on the display.

Note:

  • It will take 1-2 hours for Water Consumption to start showing up in the app.
  • Depending on how long the water meter was down, it could take 3-4 days for the graph in the app to populate.
